What does API stand for?

API or Application Programming Interface is a software that connects different programs enabling applications to talk to each other. The interface defines how two programs communicate with each other using requests and responses, and is typically described in the API documentation. For an example, an API can be used to integrate dashboards within an application or create & update datasets.
